Friend’s Online Meeting encourages interested persons to conduct social action according to the issues written in the Meeting’s Minutes of Concern. Although we do not encourage protest, the Meeting offers these records of it’s commitment to principled Christian action. The Meeting encourages the following actions around it’s concerns,
Your Meeting considers Minutes of Concern an important action to define the ministry of people who consider themselves Friends. Your Meeting encourages and supports leadings of concern that lead to acting for the sake of your faith. However, we discourage actions that are confrontational, or otherwise not peaceful. Examples of actions we would like people to take include,
Making a quilt or needlepoint that makes clear the testimony you have beheld in the light
Speaking plainly to others including responsible persons for the sake of your progress as a spirit led person
Assisting those affected by circumstances you have experienced personally or have felt by means of the free press
Contributing assistance of whatever nature to actions undertaken by the Meeting, and assuring those actions are ethical and lawful
- Your Meeting can support you in making a discernment of concern. We encourage you to request a clearness committee from the committee chairperson by emailing: concern@friendsonline.life. More serious requests concerning spiritual doubt can also be sent to your meeting and they will be treated with strict confidentiality.
- Your Meeting recognizes that discernment of concern can lead to doubt. Doubt can be a question about what activity is required, or about what faith requires of the person. Doubt can affect your relationship with spirit in and of itself.
- Your meeting is prepared to assist with the carrying out of a concern where acting on the concern may cost money. The Meeting, at the request of the committee for Minutes of Concern, acting on the request of a member, can provide a list of financial resources. The Meeting, at a request that has been approved by the business meeting, can raise money to assist the concerned.
- Your meeting is prepared to assist you to bring your activities for a concern to a conclusion. You are encourage to request a clearness committee to decide when your spirit led activities have been comnpleted. Your clearness committee can also help the Meeting to recognize you for the peaceful activities you have conducted.
Friend's Online is concerned that the world is facing an historically unprecedented number of refugees.
Friend's have expressed concern for ill treatment children received while attending Quaker schools for Indians.
The Meeting is concerned that Quaker Testimony requires it to act concerning Trump Administration policies.
