What problems with silent worship does this Center address?

  • Unprogrammed meetings tend towards séance type worshipping.

  • Unprogrammed meetings can encourage a cult of personality.
  • The liberal tradition for this type of worship is unprophetic.
How does Friend’s online Christian worship center address these problems and improve unprogrammed worship for us and others?

  • Ask worshippers to be mindful of the queries that guide each worship session.
  • Emphasize consensus led rather than clerk led decision-making.
  • Move closer to the Christian Quaker tradition but allowing guidance by prophetic and spiritualist traditions.
What activities do we host to make the meeting meaningful to you?

  • First Day Worship Meeting, every 1st day at 8 A.M. (GMC-7); and Healing Worship Meeting will be held once a month on 5TH day AT 8 A.M. (GMC-7)
  • Action oriented participation including charitable giving, letter writing to elected officials as allowed, other acts that grow out of our worship sessions.

  • Contacting public officials; the meetings’ FCNL/AFSC committee will inform the meeting about the activities of the Friends committee on national legislation and the American friends service committee; in addition, concerning international causes, the committee will assist international worshipers with involving the meeting officially for the sake of plain speaking and acting.
  • Dramatic productions and readings; the meeting’s dramatic production committee will host events to read and dramatize existing Quaker productions and to produce new works; these productions can include plays, screenplays, novels, poetry, or music.
  • The meeting will collect images and display on its website crafting items including Quaker needlework and crotchet, and Quaker furniture; to the extent it is able, the meeting will sponsor, and coordinate crafting efforts made by worshipers.

Quakers tend to be chatty birds given to congregate in groups and gossip among themselves. We prefer to be called friends because a friend is your support, and also a brother your ally. (cf. Prov.: 17:17) Also, a “quaker” (the bird) starts drama, while a gossip ruins friendships. (cf. Prov.: 16:16 ) We’d like to invite you for worship and healing.
